The Auschwitz of America: CECOT.
What’s happening in the USA today is:
-The worst constitutional crisis in the nation’s history.
-The final step in the gradual collapse of the USA’s world image.
-Setting the stage for the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression, but uniquely, the USA will be the one more brutally impacted than other nations this time around.
-Going to hurt a lot of people globally, but especially in the USA.
-Not going to be fixed by 2028.
I’ve been ranting and raving for 10 years due to my fears that we would get to this point, but we’re here. The USA is now a full-blown oligarchy dabbling in fascism. The USA is not exceptional, it is merely the best nation at selling itself and others on that idea, largely thanks to its domination in media. But the truth is, the USA is not even 250 years old, and its isolation from the rest of the world due to two fat oceans and two big, friendly neighbors less powerful than itself has given many Americans the idea that they don’t have to care about the world around them. Likewise, largely in part due to capitalism, the “fuck you, I got mine” attitude has always prevailed in the USA. While it can admittedly be fun and even admirable at times to see Americans not quit, be confident, and have big dreams, it also leads to stubbornness, self-unawareness, and living on daydreams. A perfect recipe for a descent to bad choices.
What really has me disturbed to my core is the situation with C.E.C.O.T. (Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo), the brutal prison in El Salvador. Let me list how prisoners are treated, and imagine yourself in their shoes. I’m aware a lot of the people in there are true bastards, to be certain, but I’m also aware a lot of them are not inhumane monsters, many were people forced into gangs, many are minor offenders, and a staggering amount are completely innocent or even political prisoners. The thing is, even if they were ALL brutal criminals, does this sound humane or logical:
- People sent to CECOT do not have the right to a jury or judge and can be sent under “suspicion” without evidence or even conviction of a crime.
- Prisoners never see the sun or go outside ever again. There is artificial light 24/7.
- They receive ZERO visitors; this includes legal consultation or family. They can only have online court hearings. These can be mass virtual trials with *900* prisoners tried at once.
- Prisoners have to be silent “or else”.
- No education, recreation, letters, or phone calls are allowed.
- They get only 30 minutes of exercise a day while shackled.
- There are no mattresses; inmates sleep on the concrete or on iron bunks.
- The cells give 6.5 square feet of space per prisoner, with 70 people in a cell at once. On top of this, there are rumors of overcrowding. There is no steady count of how many inmates are in the prison.
- Guards wear masks and do not have ID.
- Meals are minimal, ranging from rice to beans to eggs to tortillas. No balanced meals or nutrition.
- Water is shared with a jug between cellmates.
- No outside medical care is permitted whatsoever.
- Prisoners might be as young as 12 years old. Keep in mind gangsters often force children to join. Likewise, the juvenile prisoners are kept in the same cells as the grown men.
- Human rights inspectors are denied access.
- All cell signals are blocked within a 1.5 mile radius. The prison wouldn’t want too much information getting out…
- Prisoners are beaten, deprived food/water, sent to even harsher solitary confinement cells, waterboarded, and tortured in other ways. Some have even gone mute from stress.
- Bodies are buried in mass graves, with no notification to families.
- Prisoners are not ever allowed to leave via parole or release. They are sent to stay until they die. The few people who have been released from CECOT were in its early stages.
Recently, the Trump administration sent hundreds of people (notice my use of the word “PEOPLE” and not “migrants”, “immigrants”, or “suspects” or whatever!) to CECOT. On top of this, the director of ICE stated he wished to see a deportation process “like (Amazon) Prime, but with human beings.” Trump sent these people there to die in prison, without due process. Most of the names of these people are unknown, and several of the ones reported missing have already popped up as innocent. Keep in mind all of this is not “deportation”. That would mean sending people back to their home countries, not to a foreign prison. It’s like Guantanamo Bay and a gulag had a baby.
Of the 238 people that Trump has sent to CECOT, 179 have no criminal record in the USA, or (that we know) elsewhere. A man with a soccer tattoo interpreted as “gang tattoos”. A barber with a tattoo of a clock set to the time of his daughter’s birth again interpreted as a “gang tattoo.” A makeup artist with religious tattoos, again, called a “gang tattoo”. A man apprehended at a routine immigration check in, with US lawyers attempting to get him out without being able to communicate.
Most known is the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. A 29 year old Maryland resident from El Salvador. He was granted safety from deportation in 2019 due to fears of gang persecution if he returned to El Salvador. He originally came to the USA (yes, illegally) as a 16 year old after a gangster threatened to kill his brother for money and wanted Kilmar to join a gang, and threatened to rape and kill his sisters. Because of this, a judge granted him his stay in the US. Kilmar was eventually married to a US citizen with 3 children (all disabled), and was never charged with a crime in his life. Kilmar was falsely accused of being a member of MS-13. The Trump administration said Kilmar being sent to CECOT was “an administrative error” but have not made efforts to get Kilmar out and have openly defied a unanimous 9–0 ruling by the Supreme Court to remove him from CECOT. Kilmar was one of 238 people taken by the Trump administration last month to CECOT, defying a judge’s order to not send them.
The scariest part is that CECOT is the only prison we’re aware of so far, and as we know following The War On Terror, the USA has dozens of “black sites” around the globe. I suppose the USA decided to do concentration camps abroad instead of at home, just like manufacturing. It’s too expensive to do there, the US government gets paid to send prisoners to CECOT, and ew, who wants to look at people suffering?
Just recently, Marco Rubio announced another 10 people were sent to CECOT without trial, again defying due process and a judge’s orders. Trump has mused about sending Tesla vandalism to CECOT. As I was writing this piece, Trump just said, while meeting with Nayib Bukele (El Salvador’s president), that “home-growns” are next, and said they should build ‘five more places” specifically for US citizens.
In other words:
Donald Trump has wiped his ass with the U.S. Constitution.
(enjoy that visual)
If you’re offended by that last crass joke, and not the entire plethora of crimes against humanity I just listed, you need to get your shit together.
I criticize this stupid and hateful administration because I love my country, and I have a higher standard for it. Patriotism isn’t blind love in a place; that is fanaticism. Letting Trump do as he pleases goes against everything this nation was founded on: the voice of the common person, and common sense. While imperfect, the USA could grow in time with cooperation and diverse ideas pushing the wheel of progress. This is not progress, it is not conservation, it is evil.
I just visited Sachsenhausen concentration camp, north of Berlin, a week ago. I’ll be writing about that experience more on this blog, but to summarize my thoughts quickly:
It’s happening all over again.
